Can beetles/dust mites or mould develop in the pillows?

The husks are not chemically treated. The husks are the natural protection of the grain and, as a fibre, they are not nutritious. With correct and regular use of the products, no “attack” by various organisms occurs.
The products work against dust mites, so these do not develop in them.

However, if a product is not used for a longer time and is not regularly cared for (aired), it can become an attractive home for various organisms.

If you live in a hot and humid environment, as a preventive measure we recommend that, if you are going to store the cushions for a longer period, you first place them in a freezer for a day or store them vacuum-packed.

Why use pillows made of natural materials?

Good, quality sleep is very important for the body to rest. Because we devote a lot of our lives to sleeping, a healthy bed is one more reason to choose natural materials that are not chemically treated for sleeping. During sleep our body rests and regenerates, so there really is no need for it to be exposed to artificial substances at that time.
Most mattresses made of synthetic fibres, foams and down fillings are treated with formaldehydes, UV inhibitors, anti-mould agents, stabilisers and more.
We believe that while sleeping, people must not be exposed to artificial materials and the chemical substances with which these are treated and which they release.
Because we believe in natural sleep, no chemical additives are present at any stage of the production of our products or of the raw materials we use for them. We are not aware of how much we are exposed during the day to chemical and other substances that enter our body through cleaning agents, food additives or substances in textile products.
Neither spelt nor buckwheat likes soil that has been fertilised with nitrogen, and even less so if herbicides have been used to control weeds.

For children and adults alike, it is important to choose the right pillow for good sleep. This is not always easy. A pillow must be made of the right materials. Most pillows are made of and filled with artificial synthetic and other artificial fibres or down. Synthetic fillings and polyester fabrics are artificial products that can release toxic substances. Pillows filled with down or feathers attract dust mites, which cause allergic reactions in many people.

What is the difference between spelt and buckwheat husks?

Spelt husks are:

  • larger and lighter, similar to straw, less durable,
  • they contain crystals of silicic acid, which have an effect on the body similar to healing clay,
  • they are not suitable for asthmatics and people allergic to hay.

Buckwheat husks are:

  • smaller and heavier, more durable,
  • they contain polyphenol, which acts as an antioxidant, and rutin, which has a mild antibacterial and antiviral effect,
  • they act as antiallergens and are suitable for asthmatics and people allergic to hay.

Why unbleached cotton?

Unbleached cotton is a material that is friendly to health and to nature. It ensures a pleasant and, above all, health-friendly sleeping environment. The use of 100% natural pure cotton without artificial additives ensures complete care for sensitive skin. It is washable at 40 0C.
